When most people think of hair loss, they probably envision a man with a completely bald head. Men tend to be thought of more often when it comes to losing hair—especially as they age—but what a lot of people don’t realize is that women experience hair loss, too. In fact, a large portion of those who experience hair loss worldwide are women.
There are a lot of products available to help improve your hair—from shampoos to styling creams to serums. Choosing which ones are right for your hair can be difficult. With so many to pick from, how can you be sure the ones you select will really work?
Small amounts of hair loss every day are normal—the average person loses around 100 hairs a day because of hair’s natural growth cycle. But if you notice that much more hair is falling out than usual, something much more serious is probably going on.
For all women, menopause is a time of major transition. Once you hit the age of around 50, you are likely to begin experiencing a range of changes that might be stressful or difficult to navigate. In addition to things like a reduced libido, hot flashes and other bodily changes, another change you are likely to experience is increased hair loss.
Hair loss affects a surprisingly large number of men and women, and the problem is not only due to age.
