Fight Back Against Hair Loss with These At-Home Hair Masks!

Hair loss affects a surprisingly large number of men and women, and the problem is not only due to age. Hair loss can be driven by stress, trauma, hormonal imbalances, pregnancy and birth, nutritional deficiencies, damage and much more. These conditions may lead to widespread hair loss and baldness, or they may just cause thinning across the scalp.

Unfortunately, not all forms of hair thinning or loss are able to be cured or stopped completely. That being said, you may be able to slow the loss of your healthy hair by paying extra attention to your strands and scalp and stimulating new growth in natural ways.

Many people have found success in slowing hair thinning by applying hair-healthy nutrients using at-home mask treatments. You don’t need to go to the salon or the store for these masks, either! Many of the ingredients can be found right in your pantry or refrigerator.

Try some of these hair masks to slow hair loss and enjoy thicker, healthier hair.

Aloe vera mask

The aloe vera plant has extraordinary anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties, making it a top choice for soothing and promoting healing on irritated scalps. It also contains high levels of vitamins like vitamin A, C and E, as well as calcium and magnesium.

Aloe vera is also believed to increase blood flow to the areas it is applied, which is critical for stimulating new hair growth.

Whether you suffer from scalp irritation and inflammation or are just looking for new ways to stimulate hair growth, try applying a super-easy aloe vera mask to your scalp! All you need is a small amount of aloe vera gel.

Rub the gel between your hands and apply it directly to the scalp. Gently massage your scalp while doing this to stimulate blood circulation even more. Allow the gel to sit for around 15 minutes, then wash it out in the shower. Repeat the gel application a few times per week or as needed.

Egg mask

Protein is one of the key components of healthy hair. Without it, the appearance and feel of your hair might suffer. Without enough protein, your hair might even begin to fall out!

Fortunately, there are many ways you can infuse your hair with protein using hair masks. One popular method uses eggs, which contain high levels of protein, as well as biotin and vitamin B12.

Combine one egg with a tablespoon of coconut oil and a small squeeze of honey. When the mask is thoroughly mixed together, apply it all over your hair and scalp, massaging it in. Put on a shower cap to allow the ingredients to soak in, then let it sit for around 20 minutes. Finally, rinse the mask off with warm water.

The egg in the mask helps to infuse the hair with proteins and vitamins, while the coconut oil penetrates deep into the shaft for moisture and the honey improves shine. Together, these ingredients promote growth while also reducing damage to prevent future hair fall.

Coconut oil and cinnamon mask

Cinnamon is believed to be a natural exfoliant and hair growth stimulant. The popular spice contains a variety of antioxidants and vitamins that contribute to hair health and helps to rid the scalp of buildup that hampers follicle health. Additionally, it may contribute to better blood circulation.

Mix two teaspoons of cinnamon with two tablespoons of coconut oil. Do a patch test on your arm to make sure the mixture does not irritate your skin. If it does not, apply it to your scalp, gently massaging it to exfoliate the surface.

Leave the mask on for 10 to 15 minutes before washing it out with shampoo. Make sure to pay attention to whether the mask begins to burn the scalp. If the sensation becomes uncomfortable, wash it out immediately.

Fenugreek mask

Fenugreek seeds are legumes that have been used for centuries in European and Asian medicine. They are rich in folic acid, vitamins A, C and K, potassium, protein and more. Because of their nutrient content, the seeds are believed to be helpful in stimulating hair growth at the follicles and preventing damage in the hair shaft.

Soak a few tablespoons of fenugreek seeds in water overnight, then grind them into a paste. Apply the paste to your scalp and massage it in, leaving it on your head for around 20 minutes. Then, wash your hair with shampoo.

You can also mix in a tablespoon or two of coconut or olive oil to give your hair extra hydration and shine.

Take good care of your hair to prevent loss

Although the nutrients contained in some of these hair masks may help stimulate hair growth and prevent hair loss, they are not the only ways to minimize hair thinning and loss. In general, make sure you eat a balanced diet and minimize hair damage to enjoy long-lasting, healthy hair.
